The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
This is a Fixed term, full-time position for 36 months.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead work that advances the Department of Government Services' (DGS) mission to reduce the cost of living for Victorians. As DGS strengthens its evidence base and embeds evaluation and performance across its operations, the Senior Evaluation and Performance Officer (VPS5) will play a critical role in driving high-quality, evidence-informed decision making.
In this role, you will lead the design, delivery, and oversight of evaluation and performance activities across DGS, ensuring methodological rigour, strong governance, and alignment with department and whole of government priorities. This includes providing expert advice on monitoring, evaluation design, and evidence generation; conducting and overseeing modelling and mixed method evaluations of programs, processes and outcomes; and delivering actionable insights to senior leaders. You will also contribute to department wide evaluation strategies, develop monitoring frameworks and quality assurance processes, support performance reporting systems, and build evaluation capability across teams through guidance coaching, and fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
A tertiary qualification in evaluation, social or behavioural sciences, economics, public policy/administration or related field is desirable.
Specialist expertise
Experienced evaluation professional, with government or policy experience who is comfortable operating in complex, multi-stakeholder environments is highly desirable.
