· Leading a small team of environmental and planning specialists through effective direction, supporting ongoing capability development and contributing to a culture that encourages development and growth.
· Being the primary point of contact for embedded environmental and planning issues within the specified package.
· Utilising advanced knowledge of environmental approval and compliance processes in the production of high quality, well-articulated documentation including environmental briefs, approvals, memorandums, and other documentation required for procurement and implementation of delivery contracts and environmental compliance activities at NELP.
· Providing authoritative and strategic advice and prepare and present detailed, comprehensive reports, briefs, presentations and recommendations for senior management and government departments on the status of the environmental and commercial aspects of NELP.
· Maintaining responsibility for the oversight of environmental compliance audits, ensuring to implement corrective actions within the specified delivery package to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and NELP obligations.
Reporting to the Package Director, the Senior Environment Specialist is responsible for leading a team working collaboratively with delivery partners. The role will assist in the completion of project approvals, preparation of contract documents and in the compliance of delivery packages and approval conditions for specified delivery packages within the North East Link Project (NELP). The Senior Environment Specialist is responsible for supporting senior management with high quality advice, reports, and communication around key issues throughout the project lifecycle. This role also ensures that technical specialists are managed so that key objectives are being met efficiently and to a high standard, while maintaining a motivated and collaborative work environment.
This position will lead a small team of technical specialists consisting of both internal and external resources embedded in a delivery package through complex projects at various stages of approvals and audits. The team provides advice on primary project approvals, achieves secondary consents, and sets the environmental and planning requirements in the procurement of NELP’s secondary packages.
This position provides the successful candidate with the opportunity provide advice and solutions that will benefit Victoria’s largest road transport project to date.
About You
· Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation which may include the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988, Water Act 1989, Environment Protection Act 2017 and native vegetation guidelines.
· Demonstrated experience and technical expertise in directing and influencing consultants, disciplinary teams, and contractors to achieve corporate goals and project objectives
· Advanced technical knowledge of - and demonstrated experience in - delivery of technical advice on complex environmental matters within a major infrastructure or construction project environment.
· A relevant tertiary qualification and experience in environmental science, environmental management or a similar discipline is mandatory.
This opportunity is 2 year fixed-term.
It will be a requirement to travel and spend time at one or all our site offices.
