The Department of Treasury and Finance provide economic, financial and resource management advice to help the Victorian Government deliver its policies. We strive for excellence in financial and economic management to improve the lives of all Victorians.
The Economic Division leads the development of advice to the Government, and implementation of priority projects, for key economic and policy priorities including economic strategy, regulatory reform, housing, social policy, government tax policy and intergovernmental financial relations to drive improvements in Victoria's productive and efficient resource allocation, competitiveness and equity across the economy.
Economic Growth Victoria (EGV) works alongside Better Regulation Victoria (BRV) in a collegiate environment to support the work of the Commissioner for Economic Growth and Better Regulation, who is a statutory appointee of the government.
Economic Growth Victoria is a small team of policy and economic professionals that supports the Commissioner for Economic Growth to advance the Government's inclusive economic growth agenda, including undertaking research and inquiries commissioned by the Government, engaging with stakeholders, and preparing advice:
Better Regulation Victoria works with the Victorian Government and community to support the analysis, design, and implementation of best-practice regulation. BRV supports the Commissioner for Better Regulation to:
Together, EGV and BRV work with the Victorian Government and community to advise on productivity and regulatory opportunities for social, environmental, and economic improvement. EGV and BRV staff work in a stimulating and collaborative environment that provides outstanding development opportunities through addressing a broad range of public policy issues.
About the role
With a newly appointed Commissioner for Economic Growth and Better Regulation Victoria, we are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Economist or Senior Policy Officer to join our team. You will join a high-performing and fast-paced team to deliver innovative and dynamic policy advice to government.
You will work alongside policy and project colleagues to lead research and analysis tasks to inform written reports, briefs, and documents, including stakeholder engagement activities.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of economic policy that responds to new and innovative productivity priorities across the State.
You will be motivated to think deeply about complex issues, curious in determining what actions might have the most impact, and genuine in your engagement with a wide range of stakeholders.

An appropriate tertiary qualification in economics, law, public policy, econometrics, commerce, statistics, or a related field is required.
