About the Role
The Senior Developer (Databricks) contributes to the development of end-to-end Database and Business Intelligence solutions. The Departments data infrastructure is currently transitioning from an existing SQL Server data warehouse and associated pipelines to a modern Databricks and Azure environment. The successful candidate will contribute to migration design, development, and optimisation activities, while ensuring continuity for downstream reporting and analytics during the transition period.
The successful applicant will have experience working in a team of experienced developers. They will possess in-depth knowledge of the latest data warehousing and database tools, BI software and technologies, scripting languages and Databricks.
This is an ongoing full-time opportunity.

About us
The Performance and Evaluation Division (PED) collects, analyses and disseminates high-quality evidence to influence decision making across the Department, government agencies and service providers to improve outcomes for children, young people and adult learners. Within PED, the Data and Insights branch provides data solutions across data warehousing, ETL pipelines, analytics, modelling, reporting, design and data communication. The branch supports surveys, research, and data requests, transforming complex datasets into actionable insights. The Data and Insights branch works closely with clients to define requirements and resolve data challenges, enabling informed, data-driven decisions.
