Senior Departmental Liaison Officer
The Role
The primary purpose of the Senior Departmental Liaison Officer (DLO), Skills and TAFE, is to facilitate effective and timely information and advice between the Minister's Office and the Department. You will lead the discrete liaison, administration and office management services delivered to the Minister's Office on behalf of the Department and manage staff within the Department Liaison Unit (DLU).
You will provide support to departmental colleagues to improve the quality and timeliness of the range of services the Department provides to the ministerial offices as well as support to the Minister and their Chief of Staff on matters related to the efficient and effective functioning of the Department's liaison, administration and office management services provided to Minister's Office.
The Team
The position of Senior Departmental Liaison Officer (DLO) forms a part of the Office of Deputy Secretary within the Skills & Employment Group.
The Office of the Deputy Secretary (DSO), Skills and Employment (SE) is responsible for leading group governance, performance, leadership and organisational development, communications and information sharing. It also delivers a service that supports efficient workflow of the range of briefing and other products for the decision of the Deputy Secretary, and the effective prioritisation of the Deputy Secretary's time through effective diary and inbox management.
About You
To be successful in this role you must demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, have previous people management experience as well as the ability to influence and negotiate.
You will have a keen eye for detail, strong organising and planning skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The roles will require you to work independently as well as in a small team alongside the Ministerial Office Advisors and Staff to ensure effective and timely communication between the ministers' offices, the Office of the Secretary (OOS), and the department.
