The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to provide a critical role within Justice Health.
About the Business Unit
Justice Health is part of the Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group in the Department of Justice and Community Safety and supports the Minister for Corrections. CJS also comprises Corrections Victoria; Policy, Strategy and System Outcomes; Group Services and Coordination; and Justice Services (which includes Community Correctional Services and other justice programs). CJS plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.
The Health Contracts and Performance Unit includes teams responsible for: contract management of all custodial health providers; data analysis to inform performance oversight and service improvements; and coordinating and driving service enhancements.
About the Role
Justice Health has an ambitious agenda to unify and uplift its data culture. A value-led approach is needed to deliver the right governance practices to support Justice Health's role as data steward for sensitive health data.
Working in a team of Senior Data Analysts, you will use solid programming skills, software engineering skills, and an understanding of data technologies and integration tools to provide analysts with data in usable format and will be responsible for building and maintaining Justice Health' data warehouse. To be successful you will have a passion for data architecture design and data management. Your significant skills and experience using Business Intelligence tools, ETL tools, building and maintaining data warehouse, interrogating databases and data extraction/manipulation methods, and in establishing data governance frameworks will enable you to play a lead role in influencing how DJCS manage and leverage data across its systems.
