VPS5 Senior Data Analyst
Use your data skills to help shape a better Victorian public sector.
The Victorian Public Sector Commission is looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join our Data and Insights team.
This is a role for someone who enjoys turning complex data into clear, useful insights. You will work on whole-of-government workforce data, helping the Commission and public sector organisations understand workforce trends, improve reporting and make better evidence-based decisions.
You will lead complex analysis, prepare reports and dashboards, improve data products and help make sure our data is accurate, well organised and easy to use. You will use tools such as SQL, Python, Power BI and Microsoft Fabric to extract, check, analyse and present data.
But this role is not just about technical skills.
We are looking for someone who is curious, practical and comfortable working through problems with others. You will need to ask good questions, test ideas, raise issues early and help find sensible ways forward when the answer is not obvious.
This is not a role for someone who wants to work alone with limited contact. You will work closely with the Principal Data and Insights Lead, team members and stakeholders, with regular check-ins about progress, risks, issues and priorities. You will be comfortable sharing work early, responding to feedback and solving problems as part of a team.
You will also help support junior team members, build consistent ways of working and contribute to a positive, high-performing team culture.
We are looking for someone with:
Experience with Power BI and Microsoft Fabric will be highly regarded.
If you are a skilled data analyst who likes solving real problems, working with others and using data to improve public sector outcomes, we would like to hear from you.
