People, Safety, Culture and Communications' (PSCCs) core functions span the breadth of workplace cultural and people matters, including human resource policy and strategy; organisational culture and change; recruitment, redeployment, and retention; performance and development; pay, benefits and workforce reporting; occupational health and safety management; and employment regulations.
The Data Analyst sits within Learning and Capability (L&C), a business unit in PSCC in the Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department). The L&C team provides process, systems and services to support the department to deliver quality learning services and to meet its responsibilities to effectively train and develop staff capability.
The Opportunity
- Ongoing, full-time position based in Melbourne.
- VPS Grade 5 role: $118,818 - $124,884 per year plus superannuation.
- Develop and deliver learning and capability reporting and intelligence that provides senior leaders and relevant stakeholders with relevant, robust (reliable and valid), timely documentation to inform decisions influencing ongoing business performance.
- Provide concise advice and determinations in a dynamic and complex working environment where users may not understand the context, assumptions and caveats associated with the data analysis products developed.
- Provide expertise and assist in the translation of business needs to design and develop tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualisation, including the utilisation of automations and self-service of insights for L&C data.
- Prepare and present technical reports, submissions, briefings and correspondence at an advanced professional level, and maintain proper documentation recording and tracking systems in accordance with established performance standards.
- Adhere to and maintain security, sensitivity and confidentiality of information provided in a professional manner and to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and privacy legislation.
- Produce and maintain in accordance with department requirements and systems, general business process guidance and documentation.
- Report on progress of assigned tasks, identify and communicate risks and issues as they arise and work collaboratively to mitigate or resolve them respectively.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in the interpretation, presentation and communication of quantitative and qualitative data to a range of audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in the application of business monitoring and reporting processes and systems.
- Experience in the use of recognised statistical and analytical applications. Knowledge of SQL, Python, R, Microsoft Power BI and/or Tableau is an advantage.
- Experience in working effectively in team environments and working across agencies to deliver results.
- Experience in preparing written briefings and research reports for a range of audiences.
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge, understanding and experience in the application of compliance and policy requirements to reporting protocols.
