About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
Financial Services Division, designs and implements financial management principles, processes and systems to ensure that the Department and its managers in central office, regions, schools and statutory authorities have the necessary support to execute their financial management responsibilities.
About the Branch
School Finance and Resources Branch, manages the efficient and effective allocation of resources to government and non-government schools, congruent with the Government's priorities and school education reform agenda within the departments planning and budget framework.
About the Role
The Senior Data Analyst will deliver high quality analysis of Victorian Government School data to inform policy and process development.
The role will be responsible for supporting the departments implementation to monitor and improve school finance policy settings, developing data lead insights into school use of funding and expenditure.
This role will require strong knowledge of systems, data management, analytic practices and which support financial management within schools.
The role will be responsible for:
• The provision of analysis of school financial data to resolve complex request made by stakeholders within the department.
• Interpreting and analysing school finance data using advanced statistical methods to identify trends, correlations and patterns to inform decision making.
• The development of analytical tools to generate reports and present findings to inform school finance teams and department stakeholders of school financial positions and trends.
Attributes
The successful applicant will have a strong knowledge of systems used within the school or similar large government sector environment.
They will have well developed technical data and analysis skills needed to use large data sets and develop solution focused analysis.
They will need strong problem-solving skills to support development of solutions to complex problems within the school financial management settings.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Essential: Bachelor's Degree in Data Analytics or Mathematics or Finance or Accounting or Business Studies or Computer Science or Information systems or a related field.
Desirable: Expertise with analytical systems/tools i.e. Microsoft Power BI, Qlikview or Oracle Analytics.
