The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Senior Contract Officer, to provide a critical role within Corrections and Justice Services
About the Business Unit
The Contracts and Infrastructure Branch are responsible for contract management, commercial oversight, and advisory services, as well as the effective management and maintenance of all Corrections and Justice Services' prison and related infrastructure. This includes:
- The management and oversight of major contracts including the three private prisons, Port Phillip Prison, Ravenhall Correctional Centre and Fulham Correctional Centre.
- Representing the Corrections and Justice Services' interests on infrastructure and construction projects to ensure the best possible outcome for stakeholders and commercial partners.
- The development and implementation of all required systems, processes and policies to sustain this diverse asset portfolio.
About the Role
The Contract Management Team sits within the Contracts and Infrastructure Branch and is responsible for the management of the three private prison contracts and prisoner transport contract as well as oversight of smaller contracts managed within other areas of Corrections Victoria (CV).
Some of your duties will include:
- Reporting to the Contract Manager, the Senior Contract Officer is responsible for developing and managing the contract management framework on behalf of CV and contributing to ongoing contract management compliance business functions, including procurement, compliance reviews, performance analysis and budget monitoring.
- In addition to office-based activities, aspects of this role are regularly conducted on-site at call-point locations, which may involve overnight travel. This role will be required to visit prisons at least once per week to undertake performance monitoring obligations.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in the management of complex service contracts.
- Demonstrated experience in performing commercial analysis and provision of authoritative commercial advice.
- Experience in writing, editing, communication and presentation skills including knowledge of technical documentation principles.
- Knowledge of the functions and procedures of Corrections and Justice Services is desirable.
Qualifications
Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience is desirable.
