The Labour Hire Authority (LHA) protects Victorian workers from exploitation and improves transparency and integrity in the labour hire industry by regulating businesses that provide or use labour hire services. LHA licences labour hire providers, monitors and enforces compliance, and supports providers, hosts and workers to understand and comply with their legal obligations.
Established to administer the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2018 (Vic) (LHL Act), LHA is an independent agency whose work is wholly funded by licence fees from labour hire businesses. Since 2019, LHA has expanded its program of industry engagement, compliance and enforcement, growing its small and dedicated team to around 120 staff and establishing a strong track record.
LHA employees are offered hybrid and flexible working arrangements in accordance with Victorian Public Service and LHA policies. Our offices are located in Melbourne CBD and Bendigo.
About the position
Are you a strong investigator who loves solving complex problems and getting to the bottom of things?
We have multiple Ongoing and Fixed Term roles available.
Working at LHA as an investigator, no two days will be the same. You'll lead and undertake complex investigations using your investigative skills, analytical thinking and knowledge of the Labour Hire Licensing Act, to identify non-compliance with relevant laws and then recommend appropriate compliance and enforcement actions in response.
You'll investigate a range of workplace and business obligations including labour hire, taxation, superannuation, migration, accommodation and occupational health and safety. Your work will help protect workers from exploitation and improve the transparency and integrity of the labour hire industry.
Reporting to a Principal Compliance Officer, you'll play an important role in delivering LHA's compliance programme. From analysing business, employment and financial records to conducting interviews and field inspections, you will follow the evidence to identify potential noncompliance with relevant laws. You'll also prepare high-quality investigation reports, outlining your findings and making well supported recommendations for enforcement action, including prosecution where appropriate.
We're looking for someone who's naturally curious, analytical, and determined, with a great eye for detail and a passion for solving problems. You'll be comfortable asking questions, challenging information, connecting the dots, and following an investigation where the evidence leads. Most importantly, you'll take pride in doing thorough investigations, getting the facts right, and producing quality reports that support strong enforcement outcome for workers and a level playing field for businesses doing the right thing.
