About the role
Reporting to the Investigations Team Manager, the role of a Senior Compliance Investigator within CAV’s Renting Taskforce is responsible for conducting investigations into breaches of the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 and to contribute to compliance and enforcement actions, including Court and Tribunal actions using the department’s integrated compliance and enforcement approach.

Key Accountabilities include:
· Authoritative in application of processes.
· Undertakes advanced case management, which may include cross agency collaboration.
· Undertake complex or technical investigations and inspections and makes recommendations for action.
· Prepare reports, briefs and correspondence on complex issues that impact at program or organisational level.
· Interpret and apply business plans and policies to own area of responsibility.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
· Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct a range of inquiries, investigations and compliance monitoring activities pursuant to the legislation, including the preparation of reports and briefs of evidence. Obtain comprehensive written statements and affidavits for use in legal proceedings.
· Demonstrated authoritative application of knowledge and processes to drive aspects of an ongoing compliance program.
· Convey specialist concepts, provide information to traders, community groups, consumers, other parties as to the rights and obligations under the legislation administered by the office, including answering general enquiries from the public and constructively encouraging compliance.
· Within an integrated compliance framework, identify issues and make policy, legislative and enforcement recommendations, emerging from inquiries and investigations, as required.
· Participate in and lead aspects of compliance and enforcement programs and contribute to enabling initiatives to educate business and promote better practices in the context of compliance with the law and an ongoing self-regulatory approach.
Mandatory requirements
· Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or equivalent is highly desirable. Alternatively, relevant tertiary qualifications in Law or other related fields may be considered.
· Previous investigative or compliance/enforcement experience is required (Minimum two years).
· A current Victorian driver’s license.
