The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is seeking a Senior Communications Officer to support the delivery of the 2026 Victorian State Election, to be held 28 November 2026.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to one of Victoria's most significant civic events. As Senior Communications Officer (Advertising), you will work in a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment, supporting the integrity, accuracy and transparency of election outcomes. The role of the Senior Communication Officer is to support the VEC and the Communication team in the delivery of communication and advertising campaigns across all media touchpoints.

A day in the life of a Senior Communications Officer (Advertising)
You will support the delivery of advertising and communication activities for electoral events, including the critical task of coordinating statutory advertising.
Day‑to‑day work includes liaising with media buying and creative agency partners, booking and coordinating advertising, managing campaign schedules, and ensuring all materials meet brand, copyright and accessibility requirements. It also involves creating and maintaining reports on campaign performance, developing process and procedure templates, and helping internal teams and external agencies stay aligned.
The position also carries ongoing responsibilities such as reviewing media buying documents (MBAs and MIs), supporting asset approval processes, and ensuring statutory notices are delivered accurately and on time. A key part of the job is working closely with internal stakeholders, providing clear advice, and helping ensure all communication products are accurate, consistent and delivered when required.
You will have demonstrated experience in
Reviewing and advising on paid media plans, media implementation (MI) sheets and Media Booking Authorisations (MBAs), including identifying risks, errors or optimisations, and providing constructive feedback to agencies prior to placement.
Planning, developing and delivery of advertising reporting activities, working with internal stakeholders and agency partners to support rolling reporting on content and advertising performance across owned and paid platforms.
Responding quickly to changing priorities, identifying and escalating routine issues or risks, and managing competing demands during peak periods.
Providing campaign project support, ensuring campaigns run to s
chedule and provide clear communications to stakeholders and agency partners.
