THE ROLE
Reporting to the Head of Emergency Management Communications, the Senior Communications Adviser will deliver integrated communications and media support for the department's emergency management function. They will work closely with the Public Engagement branch colleagues, the Emergency Management branch, and relevant business areas across the departmentand broader emergency management sector.
The Senior Communications Adviser will develop and implement innovative and comprehensive communications, community engagement, public information and stakeholder strategies for emergency preparedness, response, relief and recovery, and the evaluation and reporting on their effectiveness, including overseeing the production and distribution of communications and media collateral and events.
The Senior Communications Adviser will be prepared to participate in an out of hours standby roster for emergency management and, where necessary, be deployed to the State Control Centre or regional Vicoria to provide communications and media support in response to emergencies. When required the incumbent will provide surge support to other areas within the Branch to ensure effective communications services can be delivered during peak periods.
