As the Senior Clinician for the Perinatal Emotional Health Program, you will play a key role in shaping specialist mental health support for women and families during one of lifes most important transitions. Are you an experienced Mental Health professional passionate about supporting women and families during the perinatal period? South West Healthcare is excited to offer a unique opportunity for a Senior Clinician to join our Perinatal Emotional Health Program (PEHP) on a fixed-term basis until 2029.
About the role
This newly established position offers the chance to lead, coordinate, and deliver high-quality perinatal mental health services. You will work closely with the Director of Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health Services, the PEHP Psychiatrist, and a dedicated multidisciplinary team to make a genuine difference in the lives of local families.
As the Senior Clinician, you will:
- Lead and coordinate daily clinical practices and treatment planning within the PEHP team.
- Manage case allocations and oversee waitlists to ensure timely, equitable access to services.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions supporting women and families experiencing perinatal anxiety, depression, and other emotional health challenges.
- Provide expert consultation and liaison with key stakeholders, including midwifery departments, maternal and child health services, GPs, and community agencies.
- Represent PEHP at internal and external forums, including the weekly SWH Perinatal Allocation Meeting.
- Support and develop the PEHP team through supervision, mentoring, and professional development initiatives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, policy development, and data reporting to ensure the highest standards of service delivery.

- Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 4: $112,465.60 - $121,113.20
- Social Worke Grade 3: $101,597.60 - $116,074.40
- Occupational Therapist Grade 3: $101,597.60 - $116,074.40
- Psychologist Grade 3: $108,279.60 - $123,905.60
What you bring
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and experienced clinician who can bring:
Relevant tertiary qualifications and professional registration:
- Nursing / Mental Health: AHPRA Registered Nurse with a postgraduate diploma or specialist undergraduate mental health nursing program; 5+ years experience
- Occupational Therapy: Degree + AHPRA registration; 7+ years experience
- Psychology: AHPRA registration; 7+ years experience
- Social Work: Degree + eligibility for AASW membership; 7+ years experience
Other essential experience and skills:
- Extensive experience in mental health services, ideally including perinatal anxiety and depression
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with mothers, babies, and families
- Proven skills in clinical care, leadership, and supervision within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment
