About the opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Category Advisor to join WorkSafe on a six-month fixed-term basis, providing temporary backfill for an existing position.
Reporting to the Portfolio Manager, Core Operations Spend, you will provide strategic procurement advice and deliver procurement activities across a diverse portfolio including claims management, medical equipment and consumables, healthcare services, professional services, strategy, and occupational health and safety.
You will manage high-value and complex sourcing activities, support category and supplier strategies, and provide trusted commercial and contractual advice to stakeholders across WorkSafe. You will also use spend analysis and market research to identify opportunities, manage risk and improve value across the procurement lifecycle.
What you'll do
- Provide timely, accurate and evidence-based procurement and contractual advice.
- Manage complex tender and quotation activities, including commercial negotiations, while maintaining high standards of ethics and probity.
- Support category management plans, including social procurement, demand management and value opportunities.
- Analyse spend data and external markets to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
- Manage supplier and category risks and support procurement, governance and policy compliance.
- Provide advice on contractual and commercial matters, including supplier performance and disputes.
- Support contract lifecycle activities including extensions, exemptions, variations and terminations.
- Deliver agreed procurement initiatives and benefits while maintaining accurate procurement and contract records.
About you
You are an experienced procurement professional with strong commercial judgement and a practical, customer-focused approach. You are confident managing complex sourcing activities and strategic projects, building trusted relationships and providing clear advice to senior stakeholders.
You will also bring:
- Strong procurement and sourcing experience, ideally within a consulting, corporate or government environment.
- Experience delivering major and complex procurement projects.
- Strong project and change management capability.
- Well-developed commercial, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing suppliers, contracts, procurement risk and governance.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including influencing and advising senior leaders.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Ability to respond proactively and pragmatically to changing business needs.
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
