Senior Business Analyst
The Role
This is an opportunity to contribute to a high-priority business case for the department's future briefing and correspondence system. As Senior Business Analyst, you will work across the department to understand current-state challenges, identify opportunities for improvement, define future-state requirements, analyse system and maintenance costs, and develop evidence-based options and recommendations to support executive decision-making. You will bring strong stakeholder engagement, analytical and project delivery skills to develop a comprehensive business case that clearly articulates costs, benefits, risks, assumptions and implementation considerations.
Main accountabilities
The Team
The position of Senior Business Analyst forms part of the Strategy, Performance and Governance Branch within the Corporate Services Group.
The Corporate Services Group provides specialist functions across finance, investment and procurement, performance and governance, legal and legislation, people and culture, information technology, workplace services and emergency management. These functions support the department to operate efficiently and effectively, meet its legislative obligations and deliver on its strategic objectives.
The Strategy, Performance and Governance Branch drives initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Corporate Services Group and the department. It supports high-quality reporting, strategic and business planning, effective oversight and informed decision-making, while coordinating ministerial processes and providing strategic direction, risk and assurance support.
About You
You bring strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to identify underlying needs, understand organisational context and build cooperation to achieve outcomes. You apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess complex issues, consider the broader business context and develop practical, sustainable solutions. You can translate strategies into projects that deliver intended outcomes, manage competing priorities and coordinate activities to meet milestones.
Experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, business case development, options analysis, project coordination or system and process improvement would be highly regarded. Experience in government, briefing and correspondence systems, ministerial processes, procurement, finance, ICT-enabled business transformation or complex stakeholder environments would also be advantageous.
