The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Senior Assistant Manager to provide a critical role within Complex Classification Unit.
About the Business Unit
Corrections Victoria (CV) operates Victoria's adult prison system, seeking to provide safe and secure containment for people in custody and an environment, programs and services that support rehabilitation. CV runs 12 public prisons, one transition centre, and oversees privately operated prisons. CV provides best practice interventions that aim to reduce the risk of reoffending, including case management informed by sound risk assessment, offence specific and offence related programs, and transition and reintegration supports.
The Sentence Management Division is responsible for identifying the needs of people in custody and matching them to correctional resources with the objective of placing and managing these individuals appropriately. It is a process of balancing security, management and needs of the person, the community need for protection and efficient and effective operation of the correctional system. The Sentence Management Division is responsible for guiding the journey of those individuals across the period of their sentence.
The Complex Classification Unit is part of the Sentence Management Division and is a component of Corrections Victoria's proactive approach to managing risk and responsiveness. The Unit monitors those individuals identified as high profile, high risk or complex and is responsible for monitoring the progress of people across both prisons and community correctional services.
About the Role
As the Senior Assistant Manager in CCU you will be responsible for the assessment, classification, sentence planning and sentence management of Aboriginal people in long-term separation.
The position is based in Ravenhall and may require travel to a variety of Corrections Victoria facilities across the state.
