The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Assistant Manager to provide a critical role within Sentence Management Operations.
About the Business Unit
Sitting within the Corrections and Justice Services, Corrections Victoria operates Victoria's adult corrections system. It ensures prisoners are safely and securely contained and aims to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
Sentence Management Operations, part of the Sentence Management Division, is responsible for identifying prisoners' needs and matching them to correctional resources with the objective of placing and managing those in our custody appropriately. It is a process of balancing security, management and needs of the prisoners, the community need for protection and efficient and effective operation of the correctional system. The Sentence Management Division is responsible for guiding the journey of those in custody across the period of their sentence.
About the Role
The Senior Assistant Manager reports to the Manager, Sentence Management Operations, and is responsible for the assessment, classification, sentence planning and sentence management of prisoners under the custody of Corrections Victoria. The position may be required to work on a six-day roster system (Monday to Saturday).
