The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) is looking for a Senior Applied Fire Scientist – Bushfire and Validation to join the Fire Risk and Applied Science Team in an ongoing role.
Reporting to the Team Leader – Applied Fire Science, the Senior Applied Fire Scientist – Bushfire Simulation and Validation will work with sector partners and lead the review, testing and validation of Victoria’s bushfire simulation systems. The position involves analysing existing datasets, generating new data, system design and communicating with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure Victoria’s bushfire simulation systems are fit for purpose.
This role is for a problem solver and communicator looking to apply their skills to meaningful challenges. You will work independently on complex problems, and as part of a team around specific project areas. Specific expertise for this role are outlined below.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
