The Budget Strategy Group
The Budget Strategy Group maintains a central role in supporting sound financial management in Victoria. The Group consists of four teams which provide advice on the State's short to medium term budget outlook and fiscal strategy, its financial and resource management frameworks, including the implementation of program budgeting, and public sector industrial relations.
The Group works collaboratively across DTF and public sector agencies to provide innovative advice to senior management and government to ensure the Victorian Government remains at the forefront of public sector financial management.
About the role
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Frameworks, the successful candidate will play a key role in advice on and improvements to the service delivery performance frameworks that apply across departments and entities. The position will also lead informative analysis that contributes to the provision of advice to support and increase capability within DTF and across departments.
Key Accountabilities
- Contribute to the provision of advice to support and increase capability within DTF and across departments in relation to whole of government frameworks to measure service delivery.
- Contribute to policy development and implementation of reforms to the State’s resource management and performance frameworks.
- Conduct research to contribute to the development and implementation of policy options and processes in relation to service delivery performance monitoring and evaluation.
- Develop and use informative analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of the whole of government framework for measuring service delivery performance and processes to aid in policy development and decision making.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in DTF and across departments and agencies and influence people in the wider VPS.
- Contribute to key State Budget products.
Experience and qualifications
- A relevant tertiary education, for example, in public policy, finance or law, is desirable.
- Domain knowledge in public sector performance measurement and evaluation and working in Government is highly desirable.
