About the role
The Senior Nurse AOD Consultation Liaison (CL) is a critical clinical role within Emergency Mental Health (EMH), operating at the interface of acute care and specialist mental health services within Barwon Health’s Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol Services (MHDAS).
EMH provides timely, specialist mental health assessment and intervention for consumers presenting to the Emergency Department and other acute settings.
Working as part of this multidisciplinary response, the AOD CL nurse ensures that substance use is appropriately identified, assessed, and integrated into care planning. The role strengthens continuity of care by linking patients across hospital and community-based AOD and mental health services, supporting improved outcomes and reduced system pressure.
