ROLE SUMMARY:
The Senior Advisor State Operations position supports the State Operations Business Unit to meet the outcomes of its business plan and is a key contributor to enhancing VICSES's ability to lead and provide an appropriate emergency planning and response capacity for flood, storm, tsunami earthquake and landslide.
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Officer Readiness and Response this role is responsible for leading key projects and developing and implementing a range of products and processes related to functions of the State Operations Business Unit in line with the Unit's business plan and the VICSES Strategic Plan. This role consults extensively with key stakeholders internally and across all levels of government and supports regional staff through their service delivery functions.
This position is a non-operational role that requires a flexible and solution focused approach with the ability to balance competing demands and to plan for and deliver specific outcomes within clearly defined time and resource constraints. This role also requires the ability to drive improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of processes, including integration of lessons identified, research and best practice.
WHO WE ARE:
Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer-based emergency service. Our highly skilled and equipped Volunteers are trained comprehensively in a wide range of emergency environments. To minimise the impact of emergencies when they occur and strengthen the community's capacity to recover swiftly and safely, VICSES focuses on working with communities and partners in building resilience to achieve more aware, informed and prepared communities. We support them to understand their risk and the relevance of taking action before, during and after emergency events.
As the largest road rescue network in Australia we have specialist teams that provide a 24/7 response to road accident and trauma incidents. We assist Victoria Police in search and rescue operations, and play an important role in supporting the Country Fire Authority (CFA), Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV), Parks Victoria and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) during major bushfire and emergency incidents.
