What you will be doing
Reporting directly to Senior Manager, Communication, the Senior Advisor, Media and Communications will provide strategic media and communications leadership that strengthens the organisation's public profile and reputation, ensuring messaging is timely, consistent and aligned with organisational priorities. Partner closely with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts to deliver proactive and reactive media outcomes across complex, high-profile environments.
This role will:
lead proactive and reactive media engagement to protect and enhance VEC's reputation
contribute to issues and crisis management media strategies in an issues-rich environment
provide strategic media advice to senior leaders, including support for key spokespeople
build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with media outlets, journalists and internal stakeholders
monitor for emerging media issues, develop and deliver media strategies
work across the branch to develop integrated communication strategies that support the organisation's priorities.
What you will bring to the role
A successful candidate will need:
significant experience in media and public relations management
a strong understanding of crisis communication and media issues management
demonstrated ability to design, develop and deliver communication plans
highly influential stakeholder management skills
the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced business environment
a commitment to the VEC's core values.
