About the Division
The Merit Protection Boards (MPB)is an independent statutory body established by the Education and Training Reform Act (2006) to hear and determine grievances from employees of the Victorian Government Teaching Service. The MPB considers selection and personal grievances from eligible employees, trains teaching service staff in the principles of merit and equity, and provides advice to the Department of Education.
About the Role
The Senior Administrative Advisor is responsible for the implementation of high-level administrative processes, stakeholder liaison, policy analysis and interpretation and support to the Senior Chairperson, Board members and the Registrar in developing and processing grievances. This includes writing for impact in a quasi-judicial context. Although this position will not have responsibility for leading a team in the traditional sense, it will involve significant interaction with Board members and stakeholders across the education sector in Victoria, particularly principals and other teaching service employees
The Senior Administrative Advisor will lead a range of processes to support the efficient and effective operation of the MPB, including process reforms. There is an opportunity to influence reforms to modernise the manner in which the MPB carries out is functions and responsibilities and engages with stakeholders.

The role is appropriate for a motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional organisation, and confidence in engaging with a range of senior stakeholders across the Victorian education sector.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
A bachelor's degree in education, policy or law is welcomed but not required. Experience in analysis and interpretation of government policy is required. Judicial or quasi-judicial tribunal experience, or experience in legal or legislative roles is welcomed
