The Senior Accreditation Officer (Overseas qualifications) role offers an outstanding career opportunity for a professional who is passionate about using their expertise and leadership to support VIT in its regulation of Victorian teachers. With expert knowledge of the higher education sector, teaching profession, high level written and verbal communication skills and strong stakeholder engagement skills, the role will ensure VIT is well informed to enable quality teaching.

This role will require you to:
- Contribute to the development and ongoing review of the criteria to assess the equivalency of overseas qualifications to an accredited Australian initial teacher education (ITE) program in line with approaches undertaken by other Australian and International regulators.
- Assess overseas qualifications for equivalency to an accredited Australian ITE program in line with established criteria, standards and processes.
- Develop relevant policies and processes for the assessment of overseas qualifications
- Lead a small team in the assessment of overseas qualifications
- Provide specialist advice to overseas applicants on any additional study / work they may need to undertake to meet the qualification requirements for registration
- Provide specialist advice in their assessment of overseas qualifications
- Contribute to the assessment of continuing education programs in partnership with team members across Accreditation & Professional Practice
- Explore opportunities with internal and external stakeholders to support the development of continuing education programs / professional learning requirements for overseas qualified teachers
- Provide advice to senior leaders and stakeholders (internal and external) on complex matters concerned with standards, continuing education and professional learning for teachers
- Keep informed about national and state reform related to ITE program accreditation and teaching standards both within and outside Australia and advise the Accreditation Manager and senior management about emerging issues that may impact the work of the branch
- Prepare and present policy, guideline documents, reports, resources and other correspondence related to accreditation
- Represent VIT on external committees, forums and facilitate seminars / workshops as required
- Undertake other work within and outside the Accreditation & Professional Practice Team when needed.
About you
As an experienced professional you will have a sound and practical knowledge of higher education, the teaching profession, regulation and ITE accreditation requirements. You will have experience in developing written and verbal communications for a range of stakeholders, managing a team, a passion for child safety and experience working within the education sector.
You will have strong conceptual and analytical abilities combined with a highly organised approach and a proven track record in the successful management and delivery of projects.
In addition to this, as the successful candidate, you will have:
Knowledge and skills
- Knowledge of the education sector, the teaching profession and demonstrated understanding of the purpose of regulatory requirements.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to influence others in agreed directions. The ability to present complex and complicated information for a range of internal and external stakeholders, including stakeholder presentations, reports and briefings as required.
- Strong conceptual and analytical abilities to resolve complex problems in a manner consistent with organisational objectives, and to seek ways to improve outcomes.
- Successful organisation and management of projects, including working collaboratively with staff and stakeholders and developing and implementing systems and procedures to prioritise, define clear objectives, assess and monitor risk, and review and evaluate the effectiveness of the outcomes.

Specialist expertise
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in teaching / education.
- Knowledge of the higher education system, program accreditation or the teaching profession is desirable.
