The Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Sector Policy Officer to join the Digital Economy and Innovation Policy team. In this role, you will contribute to initiatives that support the growth, innovation and competitiveness of Victoria's digital economy. You will undertake policy research and analysis, support the development and delivery of programs, and prepare high-quality briefs, reports and correspondence on key industry issues. The role also involves managing projects, grants and stakeholder relationships, helping to deliver practical outcomes that strengthen industry capability and drive productivity and economic growth. This role is well suited to a collaborative, self-motivated individual with strong analytical, project management and communication skills, and a genuine interest in innovation and continuous improvement.
Main Accountabilities
The Team
The position of Sector Policy Officer forms part of the Medical Research, Innovation and Technology Branch within the Industry, Trade and Investment Group.
The branch works to foster an innovative economy by developing forward-looking policy and delivering programs that support Victoria's digital technology, health technology and startup sectors. The team plays a key role in strengthening the state's innovation ecosystem, supporting commercialisation and driving industry growth and competitiveness.
About You
You bring strong project and contract management skills, with the ability to plan and deliver projects, manage competing priorities and support program implementation. You have sound policy and analytical capabilities, including the ability to research, interpret information and contribute to policy development. You demonstrate strong problem-solving and conceptual skills, with the ability to analyse issues from multiple perspectives and develop practical solutions.
