Fulfil Child Safe obligations

Monitor and order laboratory supplies for science practicals.
Maintain, prepare, and clean laboratory equipment.
Prepare laboratory reagents and media.
Maintain Science records ¿ inventory, orders, chemical register, MSDS.
Advise science staff on safe procedures and policies.
Work with Science co-ordinator in OH&S matters within the science faculty.
Produce curriculum support resources for science practicals.
Provide classroom support when required in practical lessons.
Assist with organisation of Science Week and Primary School Science visits.
Ensure science preparation room, chemical storeroom and science classrooms are clean and organised.
Assist in field and laboratory tests and the collection of data.
Assist in analysis of field and laboratory tests.
Participate in team meetings

The Laboratory technician is responsible to the Maths / Science Learning Area Leader
This position description describes in general terms the normal duties which the Laboratory technician is expected to undertake. However, the duties described may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the position.
Tallangatta Secondary College is a small, country, coeducational secondary college located 40 kilometres north east of Wodonga. The school draws its enrolment of 300 students from local schools within the Kiewa Valley and the broader Wodonga district. The College currently has 49 staff - 2 Principal staff, 34 teaching staff and 13 Education Support staff). Our current Student Family Occupation (SFO) is 0.36, with no students from a Language Background Other Than English (LBOTE).

Tallangatta Secondary College operates a horizontal curriculum, which offers semester and term length units of study across all Learning areas (Science, Auslan, Humanities, Maths, English, Arts / Technology, Health &PE). Curriculum is backward mapped to ensure it is guaranteed and viable.
