Join the Jobs Skills and Pathways team as a VET Transport Administrator and help students across the state access Vocational Education and Training. In this role you will work collaboratively with schools, VET Clusters, training providers, and transport companies to effectively deliver localised transport solutions to expand access to VET.
About the VDSS Transport Fund:
VET is an important part of many students senior secondary education, helping them develop general and industry-specific knowledge and skills to prepare for a wide range of post-school pathways, including further study, training, and employment.
The Fund was introduced in 2023 to address the significant barrier that travel is for many students' - particularly those in rural and regional areas - when accessing VET, due to factors such as cost, travel time, and limited transport options to and from VDSS delivery sites.
As such, the Fund is a key mechanism for reducing barriers to VET and supporting increased participation across Victoria.
New VDSS Transport model commencing in 2027:
The 2026-27 State Budget included ongoing funding to continue the VDSS Transport Fund. From 2027, the fund will focus on supporting schools and students with the most need to access VET.
The Fund will be administered by four transport administrators, each sitting in one of the department's four regions. The transport fund will focus on delivering transport solutions to priority cohorts.
About the VET Transport Administrator role:
The VET Transport Administrator is responsible for compiling and coordinating transport requests from VET Clusters for each DE region. Operating within a multi-disciplinary area team under the leadership of Jobs, Skills, and Pathways Managers, transport administrators will work closely with Cluster Coordinators, government and non-government schools, training providers, and transport providers to ensure that the region's requested transport routes meet the criteria established by the department, including Child Safe protocols, and are costed within the allocated budget.

Role conditions
The VET Transport Administrator is responsible for the administration of VET transport arrangements across a DE region in accordance with Department policy, Transport Fund guidelines, and approved funding allocations. Responsibilities include:
Ensuring current VET transport routes, schedules, transport provider details and relevant contact information are documented and communicated to participating schools (including changes) and relevant DE personnel to support local emergency management planning and response.
The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties not specifically mentioned in this document but within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this level.
The incumbent will be based at a primary location of work and may be expected to travel where required.

A current Victorian driver's licence is required.
