About the Role
This is Fixed Term role until 25 August 2028.
The purpose of the School Improvement Project Support Officer role is to provide executive administration support to the two Directors and their leadership. The School Improvement Project Support Officer, under the direction of the Directors, Kooried Education, will work closely with other staff performing administrative functions and in liaison with the School Improvement Project Support Officer to ensure required supports are provided across the Area.
The role is critical to the effective operations of the Koorie Education Divisions. It will involve periods of sustained independent work, as well as frequent and varied contact with Department employees and members of the community. The role demands flexibility and the ability to work in a highly collaborative and supportive way with all other staff. Schools and Regional Services (SRS) offers central, regional, and local expertise to enhance learning and development outcomes, supported by a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce. It comprises 17 areas within 4 regions, backed by 5 central office divisions, all collaborating to deliver improved outcomes for early childhood services, schools, communities, and learners, in line with Education State commitments. SRS regions serve as a bridge between the central office, schools, and service providers, ensuring smooth transitions for learners and achieving the department's ambitious targets. Each region includes divisions specialising in school performance, student wellbeing and early childhood support, working with area-based teams to tailor local interventions and practices. The 17 areas provide crucial insights into local trends and issues, facilitating effective policy and program development and driving child and learner outcomes across all services and programs.
This role will support the two Directors of Koorie Education Division who are responsible for providing strategic executive leadership for the Department's regional implementation of Marrung: Aboriginal Education Plan 2016-2026 and Dhelk Wukang Aboriginal Inclusion Plan. They inform statewide discussions to improve outcomes for Koorie learners, including contribute to the evaluation of Marrung, and development and implementation of relevant initiatives.
The Directors lead the Koorie Education Division in their respective regions, maintains strong local and regional partnerships including with Koorie stakeholders, members of Marrung Regional Partnership Forums, the Victorian Aboriginal Education Association Incorporated and Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Groups.
The Directors have a dual reporting responsibility to both Regional Directors (for daily operations and work allocation), and the Deputy Secretary First Nations Strategy, Policy and Programs for policy, strategy and outcomes. The Regional Directors, and Deputy Secretary work closely together to ensure coherency of approach regarding strategy and priority actions.
