The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Safety Business Partner to provide a critical role at Western Plains Correctional Centre within Corrections Victoria.
About the Business Unit
Western Plains Correctional Centre is a modern, maximum-security prison focussed on rehabilitation, housing up to 1248 people in custody. Western Plains features multi-purpose infrastructure which is adaptable to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria and the people in our care. Modern amenities include medical wards, a cultural centre, and vocational training facilities.

About the Role
As the Safety Business Partner, you will provide support to the operational teams by monitoring safety and wellbeing programs of work and liaising with internal and external stakeholders. The role involves a lot of partner contact with a primary purpose being to promote safety in a collaborative and informative manner within the location.
You will implement and drive the existing safety management system providing guidance and advice to develop and deliver operational safety excellence in partnership with managers, Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and staff to maximise the effectiveness of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS).
The Safety Business Partner will work in partnership with a range of safety and wellbeing stakeholders together with business unit management with a strategic focus upon driving improved safety outcomes, through proactive preventative health and safety strategies, to create a safety-first department.
