About the role
This role is responsible for the delivery of meals and beverages to patients, customers, visitors, and staff, ensuring a high standard of service at all times. You will provide exceptional customer service in a professional, efficient manner while working within a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment, and adhering to Barwon Health’s Food Safety Plan.
Food Services operates across University Hospital Geelong and the Grace McKellar Centre, with opportunities available at both sites. The Central Production Unit (CPU) at McKellar manages the preparation and distribution of up to 2,500 meals daily across three meal services. This includes plating meals via a tray line, loading into cook/chill retherm units, and coordinating distribution through Patient Services Assistants (PSAs), domestic, and beverage staff. Returned trolleys are processed for cleaning and reuse within the CPU.
At University Hospital Geelong, Food Services also supports evening meal delivery to patients and provides supper services. In addition, the department operates a cafeteria and two kiosk cafés at UHG, along with a medium-sized café at McKellar, delivering food and beverage services to both internal and external customers.
