About the Business Unit:
Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Annex is a medium security facility that houses a mix of sentenced and remand men and is located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne. The role of the facility is to contain men in custody safely, securely and humanely, focusing on the individual needs of the men with the aim of providing a successful transition back into the community or on their continued journey through the prison system. The facility has a strong focus on achieving positive outcomes and provides a range of engaged services. Our highly skilled workforce provides supervision and case management and are dedicated to enhancing opportunities to strengthen prisoner pathways.
The role of the Vocational Services Team is to prepare prisoners for release and to enhance post release employment opportunities through integrated on the job training, targeted educational opportunities and personal development programs and activities.
About the Role:
The Remand Program Facilitator will be responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and facilitating remand programs. The Remand Program Facilitator will be providing skill-based interventions that address common deficits in general functioning associated with remand prisoners. In addition to addressing skill deficits, remand interventions may function as treatment readiness and treatment preparation in the event of subsequent sentencing and transfer to a mainstream prison environment and contribute towards successful bail outcomes. Remand Program Facilitators will also have a role in case consultation, transition and reintegration planning and resolving issues concerned with program participation/engagement and attendance in consultation with prison staff/prison officers/offender services.
As a member of the Vocational Programs team; Remand Program Facilitators will collect and collate data, maintain accurate records and prepare regular reports regarding perform.ance and service delivery against agreed targets and outcomes. The Remand Program Facilitators contribute to the achievement of both regional and Corrections Victoria priorities.
