The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is the first level of the Victorian court system and is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria. It has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 locations, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the role
The Registrar, County Court Listings (Circuit) oversees County Court operations across the region, works collaboratively within the regional team, and represents the Court in line with departmental values. The role exercises delegated powers under the Magistrates' Court Act 1989, County Court Act 1958, and relevant Supreme Court authorities, including preparing and processing statutory documentation and applying quasi‑judicial powers in accordance with legislation and practice directions. Operating in a complex and sensitive environment, the Registrar must exercise sound judgement, work effectively with the Judiciary and senior stakeholders, and build strong professional relationships.
