About the role
An exciting opportunity to complete the Transition to Specialty Practice program on HW6. The successful applicants will have acute nursing experience, excellent communication skills and a motivation to continued professional development.
Applicants will be supported with our well-established structured program; working autonomously whilst being part of a supportive team.
The Program
The HW6 TSP program is a 12 month supported position, where nurses gain specialist knowledge and skills caring for acute general surgical patients across the in-patient ward.
Heath wing 6 is a 32-bed surgical ward that specialises in Colorectal, Urology and upper gastrointestinal surgeries (Liver resection, Whipples procedure and Ivor lewis Oesophagectomies).
The program has a range of different study days including, stomal therapy, acute pain team, ICU liaison and theatre study day. This is a great program for anyone with a strong interest in surgical ward nursing and have recently finished a grad year. It provides valuable exposure to complex surgical skills and helps develop confidence and capability within the surgical speciality.
A comprehensive orientation to the ward will be provided including supernumerary shifts in your initial transition to the program.
