About the facility
Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
About Oncology
Baxter Wing 6 is the Oncology and Haematology Inpatient Unit of Cancer Services. The busy and dynamic unit is a 28 bed ward that cares for acutely unwell cancer patients from Geelong and the South West Region. Our core services include acute care for haematology patients, including peripheral stem cell transplants, medical oncology and radiation oncology patients. BAX6 is a purpose built cancer ward that is a great working space but is also provides comfort and privacy for our patients.
About the Role
The Oncology Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of patient / client / resident focused holistic nursing care to those assigned to him/her, in order to achieve desired clinical outcomes. Our patients are cared for in predominantly single rooms with views of the bay, supporting patients from across the Barwon, South West region
Our core services provide acute care for haematology patients, including peripheral stem cell transplants, medical oncology, radiation oncology and palliative care patients. We care for patients on clinical trials.We offer exciting education and training opportunities with our new affiliation to Melbourne University and our recently appointed Oncology Nurse educator
Post graduate studies are offered through Melbourne University with the opportunity to rotate through apheresis, radiation therapy, Andrew Love Cancer Centre and clinical trails.
