About the Role
This is a Fixed Term Part Time position to cover Parental Leave for 11 months, at 0.6FTE/48hours per fortnight within the Postnatal Mothers Unit, Butterfly Ward - NICU.
You will be responsible for providing postnatal care to mothers less than 7 days post birth whose babies have been admitted to RCH, mainly within the NICU Unit. Work independently on each shift and be solely responsible for the direct clinical care of the mothers admitted to the 4 bed PMU Unit, you may also be asked to provide midwifery and breastfeeding/lactation to support to other mothers of babies in NICU as well.
You will practice independently within the multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive, safe, evidence-based practice across a range of contexts to facilitate optimal health outcomes with a family centred care approach. You will retain responsibility for individual actions and accountability for care provided and are responsible to plan, implement, evaluate, and maintain a high standard of clinical care for postnatal woman and their families.
What you’ll achieve:
Classification for this position will range from Midwife Year 2 to Year 8, $86,580 – $107,510 per annum pro rata.

Postnatal Mothers Unit – Butterfly Ward NICU
The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a Level 6b quaternary-level referral service which provides intensive and high-dependency family-centred care to approximately 800 infants each year with a wide range of complex medical and surgical conditions are managed in the NICU. The Postnatal Mothers Unit is a 4 bed unit aligned with Butterfly Ward – NICU, and also provides care to mothers of babies in Rosella Ward (PICU) and Koala Ward (Cardiac & Renal).
