About the role
This position will work with executive, management, employees and stakeholders of the Barwon Local Health Service Network (BLSHN) to address and support each organisation’s approach to environmental sustainability and create opportunities to collaborate to achieve environmental sustainability objectives.
The primary purpose of this role is to facilitate environmental sustainability activities, including the development and ongoing management of Environmental Management Plans, and the facilitation of sustainability programs and projects that deliver cost savings, efficiency and effectiveness gains, and elevate staff awareness and education across the BLHSN.
The Sustainability Manager provides strategic leadership to develop and deliver environmental management plans and sustainability initiatives across the health services. The role drives practical, measurable outcomes aligned to organisational objectives, prepares services for ACSQHC environmental sustainability accreditation, sources external funding, and embeds sustainability through education, policy and best-practice frameworks.
The role is also responsible for monitoring performance, financial and regulatory reporting, and publishing annual sustainability reports. Working closely with internal stakeholders and regional and national sustainability networks, the Sustainability Manager coordinates and promotes sustainability initiatives, builds capability across services, and supports continuous improvement in environmental performance.
