About the Role
The Department of Education South-Western Victoria region is seeking to recruit a Regional Education Children's Court Liaison Officer (RECCLO) for a 12 month fixed term. The RECCLO role is a member of the Justice Education and Engagement Branch in the Student Wellbeing and Engagement Division of the Department of Education South-Western Victoria regional team. The Student Wellbeing and Engagement Division includes the Health and Wellbeing, Mental Health Reform, Lookout and Disability Inclusion teams. The Justice Education Engagement Branch is responsible for implementation of the Education Justice Initiative that supports young people that have had involvement with Victoria Police, the criminal and family division of the Children's Courts to re-engage in learning. The Regional Education Children's Court Liaison Officer (RECCLO) supports the education, engagement and participation of children and young people appearing before the Criminal Division of the Melbourne Children's Court to improve their learning and wellbeing outcomes.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Collaboration and engagement with key stakeholders, including schools, the Department of Education's Regional and Area workforces, the Children's Courts and other state government agencies is central to this role. The incumbent is responsible for supporting stakeholders to navigate the education sector, providing sound judgment and advice, contributing to best outcomes for young people. RECCLOs may be required to travel to other Children's Court locations in the region to provide referral assistance for young people appearing before the Court.
Experience working with complex young people, working with schools, involvement with the court system or youth justice are desirable. Applicants to submit a cover letter addressing the selection criteria outlined in the position description.
