About Us
Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.
Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdiction's own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.
The Law Library of Victoria
The Supreme Court Library is the library of the Supreme Court of Victoria. It is a unified library supporting all jurisdictions in Victoria, as well as barristers and solicitors, who as members of the Victorian legal profession have access as of right.
About the role
The VCAT Reference Librarian is responsible for delivering high quality reference services to VCAT. The Law Library of Victoria is an integrated library serving the Supreme Court, the County Court, the Magistrates Court and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).
The Reference Librarians work as an integrated team ensuring the delivery of high quality and responsive legal reference, research, user education and current awareness services to library users and advise on the acquisition of appropriate resource materials in each jurisdiction.
The Reference Librarians are also responsible for developing and maintaining productive relationships with the judiciary and legal profession. They assess, analyse and report on user needs and expectations in order to inform the development of the Library's programs and services.
The Reference Librarians undertake a range of duties that comprise active collection management both to local collections and to the broader Law Library collection, particularly the collection housed at the Supreme Court Library.
