The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) is the Victorian schools, apprenticeships and traineeships regulator, a statutory entity with independent functions that is part of the Department of Education, also reporting to an independent board.
The Schools Division of the VRQA is responsible for registering all Victorian schools, and in the process ensuring they meet child safety and other obligations. It is also responsible for undertaking reviews of schools and other related providers to ensure they are continuing to meet their obligations. It works closely with a range of external stakeholders to deliver this function, including applicants wishing to become school proprietors, existing schools, various areas of the Department of Education, the Victorian Catholic Education Authority, Independent Schools Victoria and the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority.

About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a highly self-motivated team player to join our VRQA Schools Division as Quality Assurance Officer. You will play a key role in ensuring that students receive a quality education in safe and well governed environments. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career and to have an impact on the Victorian education system.
The position works collaboratively with other VRQA teams to ensure the effective regulation of non-government and government registered schools (including providers to international students), school boarding premises, non-school registered providers and not-for-profit student exchange organisations. The primary purpose of this role is to assist in assuring the compliance of duty holders with the minimum standards for registration, including the Child Safe Standards. Your work will involve reviewing policies, procedures and evidence, in addition to drafting assessment reports to meet agreed timelines and conducting site visits where required.
The primary purpose of the role of Quality Assurance Officer is to assure the compliance of registered schools, school boarding premises and other school sector providers (including providers to international students) with the minimum standards for registration, including the Child Safe Standards. You will be involved in assessing compliance by reviewing high volumes of written documents against a wide range of minimum standards, and on occasion conducting site visits.
You will play a key role in ensuring that students receive a quality education in safe and well governed environments.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this regulatory role, you will be a collaborative team player with excellent analytical, communication and critical thinking skills. Experience in working in a government context will be highly regarded.
It is a condition of ongoing employment that successful candidates hold a valid Victorian Working with Children Check.
