Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult with and advise others providing services to families with a deaf child.
Demonstrated understanding of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and Practice Principles, Early Childhood Intervention Competencies, and family centred and strength-based practice, or preparedness to actively acquire this knowledge.
Ability to use Auslan effectively to communicate with children and adults who are deaf, or preparedness to undertake a recognized course to learn Auslan and develop a knowledge of deaf culture and issues related to children who are deaf.

Under the direction of the manager for Early Intervention, the successful applicant will work as a member of this collaborative team in delivering statewide early intervention services for young deaf children and their families through the provision of psychology services and consultancy support to other service providers.
Aurora School has two campuses, one in Blackburn and one in Sunshine. The applicant will be based in Blackburn and may be required to work across both campuses.
Country travel will be involved. Accordingly, the successful applicant should hold a current Victorian motor vehicle driver¿s license and be prepared to use their own comprehensively insured vehicle as required. At times, overnight stays will be required. Personal expenses and ATO mileage rates are payable.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo a Working with Children Check, sign an employment letter and a Pre-Employment Health Declaration.

Aurora School is a Department of Education School providing optimal learning environments for young children who are deaf or deaf and blind and their families across the State of Victoria. Communication, language and literacy form the foundation of Aurora¿s bilingual programs (English and Auslan), supporting each child¿s development.
Aurora¿s Early Intervention program is available to families of children, throughout Victoria, for those children who have a confirmed bilateral hearing loss, aged from birth until school entry. Staff work in partnership with families providing regular home-based and group sessions. Early Intervention staff work in collaborative teams which include teachers of the deaf, psychologists, social workers, speech and language therapists, and deaf educators.
