SC1: Demonstrated experience in conducting psychological, behavioural and educational assessments and translating assessment findings into practical recommendations that support student learning, engagement and wellbeing.
SC2: Demonstrated capacity to provide evidence-based counselling, therapeutic interventions and mental health support to children and young people experiencing social, emotional, behavioural and learning challenges.
SC3: Highly developed knowledge of child development, mental health, disability, trauma-informed practice and behavioural support, with the ability to apply this knowledge within a primary school setting.
SC4: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment and provide specialist advice to school leaders, teachers, families and external agencies to support positive student outcomes.
SC5: Highly developed communication, consultation and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships with students, families, staff and community service providers.
SC6: Demonstrated capacity to design and deliver professional learning, coaching and consultation that strengthens staff capability in supporting student wellbeing, mental health and positive behaviour.
SC7: Demonstrated ability to analyse data, assess complex student needs and contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of targeted and whole-school wellbeing initiatives.
The Psychologist will work collaboratively with school leaders, teachers, students, families and external agencies to support the wellbeing, engagement and learning outcomes of students. The successful applicant will:
1. Assessment and Intervention
2. Student Wellbeing and Mental Health Support
Contribute to risk assessments and support planning for students requiring additional wellbeing intervention.
3. Consultation and Case Management
Coordinate referrals to external agencies and work collaboratively with allied health professionals, medical practitioners and community services.
4. Behaviour Support and Inclusion
Support classroom-based interventions that promote positive behaviour, inclusion and student engagement.
5. Professional Learning and Capacity Building
Build staff capacity to identify and respond effectively to student learning, behavioural and wellbeing needs.
6. Whole-School Wellbeing and Improvement
Use data and evidence-based practice to inform decision-making and improve student outcomes.

Will usually be a member of the leadership team who is accountable for the development and delivery of key services that are integral to the effective operation of a school/s. Provides a range of services and/or undertakes the analysis of complex problems that form part of the policy framework.
A school or group of schools would need to have the necessary diversity and complexity to create a role at range 5. Management of a major school or district initiative, project or Department targeted strategy would be an indicator depending on the breadth of management responsibilities.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee's position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
