Role Purpose
The College Psychologist plays a pivotal role in supporting the psychological wellbeing, learning, and engagement of students across Carranballac P-9 College¿s two campuses. Working within a multidisciplinary wellbeing team, the Psychologist provides direct therapeutic and assessment services, delivers early-intervention and prevention programs, and offers expert consultation to teachers, leaders, and families.
This position operates with professional independence and accountability, delivering evidence-based psychological services in alignment with Department of Education policies, the Disability Inclusion Model, and the Child Safe Standards.
DET Range 4 Context
Positions at this level carry broader management responsibility and professional autonomy. Objectives are clearly defined, with day-to-day direction minimal. The Psychologist operates with independence in managing service delivery and provides timely professional advice to leadership, staff, and families.
Professional guidance and support are accessible, but the role is expected to demonstrate initiative, prioritisation, and sound professional judgment within DET policies and school frameworks.
Supervision of students may occur individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where responsibility remains with a teacher.

Carranballac P-9 College is a government school for students from Foundation to Year 9. Located in the western Melbourne suburb of Point Cook, the college comprises two campuses: Boardwalk (established in 2002) and Jamieson Way (established in 2006).
