About the role
This is a Fixed Term, full-time position until 31st December 2026.
The Project Officer Statutory Reform will work in a team to deliver a significant package of planning reform options to the Victoria Planning Provisions to improve the efficiency, quality, outcomes and timeliness of decision-making processes. The Project Officer Statutory Reform will also be responsible for ensuring the provision high-level advice, reasoned recommendations, and innovative policy and statutory options and solutions to highly complex issues.
Key Selection Criteria
Success in this role requires the ability to apply critical thinking and sound judgement to resolve complex issues, drawing on legislation, guidelines, and consultation where necessary to make informed decisions. It demands strong project delivery skills, with a focus on defining and coordinating tasks, monitoring progress, and taking corrective action to achieve agreed outcomes. Equally important is the capacity to build trusted stakeholder relationships, tailor communication to diverse audiences, and engage with impact and credibility, even in challenging or sensitive situations.

Position accountabilities
This role supports the development and delivery of reforms to the Victoria Planning Provisions, providing high-level advice, innovative solutions and well-reasoned recommendations on complex statutory and policy issues. It requires effective project management to meet business objectives, strong stakeholder engagement across government and industry, and the ability to draft authoritative documents that inform decision-making. The position also involves representing the team in key forums, leading projects where appropriate, and fostering a collaborative, culturally safe environment that drives continual improvement.
