Want to help support the growth of Victoria’s forests? We’re looking for someone interested in supporting the uplift of seed facilities infrastructure and systems, as part of DEECA's seedbank facility management project in the Forest health Restoration and Silviculture program.
As a Program Officer Reforestation and Silviculture, you'll play a key role in supporting development of modernised designs for seed extraction and storage facilities, and uplift of facilities management. Looking after DEECA's seed extraction and storage is critical for the delivery of seed management program to build seed stores for DEECA’s forest restoration projects, and it is important to ensure the systems and processes are safe and efficient, with seeds stored in optimal conditions to maintain their condition to be ready for sowing when needed. Working with a skilled silviculture team located across Victoria, you’ll work closely with state, regional, and district teams and contractors to develop plans and deliver local facilities projects. You'll consult with experts and develop high quality management plans and procedures enable the safe and effective delivery of silviculture works, and you will deliver communications and reporting. In this role, you'll be able to support the reforestation and silviculture program to ensure that DEECA is ready to respond when needed with the right seeds for forest restoration programs, and ensure they’re extracted, stored and used in the right conditions to meet standards and directly support operational delivery. You'll also bring knowledge of seed management and silviculture to the table and work closely with the Forest and Fire, Safety and Infrastructure Services teams.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2027. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available. Candidates must be available to travel to regionally based DEECA seed facilities when required at including Noojee, Mansfield, Laverton, Orbost, Swifts Creek and Alexandra.
