The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Project Officer to provide a critical role within the Complex Classification Unit, Sentence Management Division.
About the Business Unit
The Sentence Management Division is responsible for identifying the needs of people in custody and matching them to correctional resources with the objective of placing and managing these individuals appropriately. It is a process of balancing security, management and needs of the person, the community need for protection and efficient and effective operation of the correctional system. The Sentence Management Division is responsible for guiding the journey of those individuals across the period of their sentence.
The Complex Classification Unit is part of the Sentence Management Division and is a component of Corrections Victoria's proactive approach to managing risk and responsiveness. The Unit monitors those individuals identified as high profile, high risk or complex and is responsible for monitoring the progress of people across both prisons and community correctional services. The complex classification cohort includes those identified as posing a risk of violent extremism.
About the Role
This position is primarily responsible for the coordination, collation and analysis of information relating to long-term management prisoners, those managed by the Complex Classification unit and people falling within certain cohorts or groups who present a risk to the Correctional System. This includes being accountable for the handling, management and storage of sensitive information.
