About the role:
The Project Officer supports the department's Aboriginal Strategy, Insights & Governance team by contributing to policy development, project delivery and analysis. The role undertakes research, prepares briefs and reports, and supports responses to emerging issues and risks relating to the transfer of power and resources for First Peoples. Working under direction, the role engages with internal and external stakeholders and works flexibly across the Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing Division to support other teams and divisional priorities as required.

About you:
Qualification/Specialist Expertise
Strong understanding of Treaty and the role that treaties play, understanding of the Victorian Treaty and relevant frameworks and legislation is preferred.
A relevant tertiary qualification in a health discipline or relevant public policy area and / or a relevant post-graduate qualification in a relevant health or public policy area is desirable.
Demonstrated experience contributing to Aboriginal health policy development, or policy development in related or other policy areas, including drafting, reviewing and interpreting policy documents, and preparing high‑quality inputs to Ministerial briefs and executive advice.
Demonstrated capability to contribute meaningfully to complex policy projects through research, analysis and synthesis of information, including identifying emerging issues, trends and risks impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Experience working with Aboriginal organisations and communities, supported by a sound understanding of the Victorian health system, departmental operating processes and government decision‑making frameworks.
