The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high-quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian students' birth to 18 years.
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Assessment and Reporting Division in the Assessment Operations Unit for an ongoing full-time position. The Project Officer reports to the Project Manager Special Provision.
* Salary: $100,894 - $114, 476 (Plus Superannuation of 12%)

* The Special Provision Division operates across the VCAA offices in East Melbourne and Coburg.
About the Division
Assessment Division is responsible for the end-to-end development, delivery, and reporting of F-10, VCE examinations, GAT and NAPLAN tests. This includes the full assessment lifecycle: development of frameworks and blueprints, panel appointments, content development, editorial and design services, logistics, administration, marking, data processing, and reporting of outcomes.
The division also manages:
- VCE and VPC student records and enrolment data
- issuing of VCE and VPC certificates
- digital assessment platforms, including the Insight platform and Digital Assessment Library.
The School and Student Services Unit is responsible for delivering all school and student facing support functions including Victorian Assessment Software System (VASS) support, VCE and VPC certification and the VCE special provision policy and procedures which includes:
- the delivery of the VCAA's Special Provision program, including Special Examination Arrangements (SEA), Alternative Format Examinations, Derived Examination Scores (DES), Summary Claim Forms, Change of Times and General Achievement Test (GAT) Exemptions.
- providing expert guidance to schools, parents, students and stakeholders regarding the Special Provision policy
- the development, implementation and review of training and education for schools and stakeholders regarding the Special Provision policy and processes
- the training and monitoring of panels appointed to assess SEA and DES applications
- managing the ongoing development of the Special Provision Online (SPO) platform and other digital technologies to assist schools and stakeholders with implementing Special Provision policy
Role Purpose
As a Project Officer, you will assist with coordinating and overseeing a range of processes that enable the delivery of the VCAA's Special Provision program, including Special Examination Arrangements applications, Alternative Format Examinations, Derived Examination Score applications and General Achievement Test exemptions.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating and overseeing a range of processes enabling the delivery of the VCAA's Special Provision program, including Special Examination Arrangements (SEA), Alternative Format Examinations, Derived Examination Scores (DES), Summary Claim Forms, Change of Times and General Achievement Test (GAT) Exemptions.
- Coordinating and overseeing the work of the Special Examination Arrangements and Derived Examination Score (DES) panels.
- Supporting program planning, timelines, resources, and risk management of Special Provision processes.
- Monitoring SEA and DES application processing progress while identifying issues, risks, and improvement opportunities;
- Responding to enquiries via phone and email in a professional and timely manner
- Undertaking administrative and business tasks to meet program objectives and timelines.
- Providing expert guidance to schools, parents, students, and stakeholders regarding the Special Provision policy and programs.
- Coordinating and overseeing Special Provision publications (such as Notice to Schools, Special Provision guidelines/user manuals and forms). Consistently demonstrate and embody the VPS values in all daily work activities and interactions.
- Coordinating and overseeing the training and education of schools, panels and stakeholders.
- Coordinating and overseeing the ongoing development of the Special Provision Online (SPO) platform and other digital programs that Special Provision use.
- Supporting the Special Provision Program Manager in leading operational planning and service delivery.
- Contributing to problem-solving and decision-making.
- Contributing to process improvement initiatives to enhance Special Provisio
n program delivery.
This role will require work outside standard business hours during peak operational periods to meet business requirements.

Qualifications and Experience
Relevant experience or tertiary qualification in related discipline such as project management is desirable.
