About the Division
The Assessment Division brings together all functions of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) related to assessment: policy design, development and conduct of assessments, marking and results.
The Operations branch is part of the VCAA's Assessment Division and supports the delivery of VCE and NAPLAN assessment programs and services across Victoria. Its work includes assessment logistics, marking coordination, results calculation, helpdesk administration, certification services, special provision processes, assessment data operations, and support for digital platforms including Insight.
Role Purpose
The Project Officer supports the planning, coordination and delivery of VCAA assessment support services. The role provides operational, technical and administrative support across assessment related processes, including responding to phone and written enquiries, managing and escalating service requests, supporting data and system-related activities, and assisting with the coordination of helpdesk operations. The role requires the accurate interpretation and application of assessment policies, protocols and procedures, including those that support the delivery of programs such as NAPLAN, GAT and VCE. The role will also contribute to process improvement, documentation, reporting, staff guidance and training to support accurate, timely and consistent service delivery during key assessment periods.

They will have strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide clear and consistent guidance to schools, colleagues and other stakeholders. The role requires sound judgement, attention to detail, flexibility, confidence using digital systems and online platforms, and the ability to interpret and apply operational policies, protocols and procedures accurately. The successful applicant will also be able to coordinate tasks, monitor progress and support others to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential: experience in a helpdesk or technical support role, preferably in a high-volume, service-oriented environment.
Desirable: Demonstrated experience in helpdesk support, service delivery, project support, assessment administration or a related operational support environment will be highly regarded. Experience supporting VCAA assessment programs, school-facing services, or similar high volume stakeholder support functions will be particularly valued. The successful applicant will require sound computer literacy and confidence using online platforms, customer relationship management or case management systems, databases and reporting tools.
Experience interpreting and applying operational policies, protocols or procedural guidance, supporting users with online systems, undertaking data quality checks, assisting with system testing, preparing guidance materials, training or mentoring staff, and contributing to process improvement will also be highly regarded.
